Overview
You may have multiple leases that are the same or almost the same. The copy function (Lease menu > Copy) creates a new lease record with almost all the information of the lease currently displayed. The only information not copied is the lease number (since each lease must have a unique lease number) and the attachments (since those are usually specific to an individual lease).
If the lease has more than one revision, you may choose whether to copy all revisions, or only the final one. Please note that if you copy only the final revision and then reclassify the lease, you may get a different result (finance vs. operating, interest rate, right-of-use asset value) than the final revision of the original lease shows. This is correct accounting.
To create multiple copies of a single lease, hold down the Shift key while selecting Lease/Copy. EZLease prompts you for the number of copies to make. The new leases are given sequential lease numbers based on the original number (for example, if the original lease is "Alpha", leases are numbered Alpha01, Alpha02, etc.). The number of digits used is enough to cover the number of copies you have requested to make (one digit for up to 9 leases, two for up to 99, etc.).
Copy a Lease
Follow the steps below if you wish to copy an existing lease. This is beneficial if you have multiple leases that are the same or almost the same.

1 |
Access the lease you wish to copy. |
||||
2 |
Hover over the Lease menu and select Copy. Note: To create multiple copies of a single lease, hold down the Shift key before you click Copy. |
||||
3 |
Enter the New lease number. Note: The lease number must be unique; if you enter a number already in use, a message instructs you to use a different number. |
||||
4 |
If a lease has more than one version, you may choose to copy all revisions or only the final. Note: This field is disabled if only one version exists. If you copy only the final revision and then reclassify the lease, you may get a different classification result. |

You are now on the new lease (or the first of the new leases if you made multiple copies). If you need to make changes to the lease, click Edit Lease and update the appropriate fields (refer to the sections above if necessary). Be sure to click Save Lease after you make the necessary updates. |
