If your computer is set for the U.S. region, all dates in EZLease are shown in mm/dd/yyyy format, that is, month first, then day of month, then four-digit year. If your computer uses different regional date settings, EZLease adjusts to the order of day, month, and year used by your computer; all documentation references to dates, however, are shown in mm/dd/yyyy format.
You may enter a two-digit year, which is automatically converted to a four-digit year using the "century window" defined for your computer. By default, this is the range 1930-2029 (“45” is converted to 1945, while “15” is converted to 2015). To change the century window to a different range, go to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, then click the Customize (XP) or Additional settings (Vista/later) button; select the Date tab, and choose the desired end date of the century window.
EZLease permits the use of Quicken®-style date shortcuts:
- Y - beginning of Year
- R - end of yeaR
- M - beginning of Month
- H - end of montH
- T - Today
- F - Forward one day
- B - Back one day
All of these (except T) are cumulative: for instance, if you press Y when at the beginning of a year, the date moves to the beginning of the prior year.
F and B are different from Quicken, which uses + and - for the same purpose. In EZLease, + or - means to increase or decrease the individual date element currently highlighted. So, if you are in the month section of the date field, + increases the month number by one. When you press + and the month is at 12, it rolls over to 1 without changing the year. Using the Quicken date shortcuts does roll the date forward or backward: if the date displayed is 12/31/2018 and you press H, the date changes to 1/31/2019.
You may also click on the down arrow at the right of the date field, which displays a calendar. Click on the month name or year to get a list to select from or click on the left or right arrow at the top of the calendar to move backward or forward one month. Click on the date you want.
